Whoa. I just recently received an email inquiring about my services from an Individual who said they had median nerve damage caused by their acupuncturist. Reminds me of a time when a patient I used to see said she went to see her acupuncturist and when she came home to get changed, she found a needle was still in her breast. It sounds like these acupuncturists have the same issue many physical therapists have in situations such as burn marks from leaving the moist heat packs too long on patients, or doing overly aggressive soft tissue work that left the patient bruised and sore for a few days, or prescribing ridiculous thera-band exercises that are doing nothing for the patient, or heres a classic, leaving an elderly patient on the treadmill by themselves and they fall. This is negligent, distracted and poor quality care. Most likely because the provider was too busy treating multiple patients at a time... And the bigger picture here is that this happens (quite frequently) when we forget that healthcare is not business...... Sure, we all need to make some money to pay the bills..... But not at the expense of harming our patients. DO NO HARM. Is this so difficult to understand? Michael Jocson Physiotherapy Changing healthcare one patient and one post at a time ;)
