Whoever said that special training is a waste of time, is so wrong. If you have to use it one time , it was all worth it. Being part of the Fayette County Swift Water Team finally paid off last night. All the long hours, leg cramps, .and exhaustion helped a family and their son. The amazing group of people we work with are so unselfish. The thing that made me a little teary eyed. ( of course after the fact ) was the first 2 techs to go in the cold, lonely, dark river was my brother Billy Colbert and myself. To experience that together was a profound moment in my life. After making our way no obstacle stopped us ( hills, muddy, or the slimy rocks. When approaching the patient I could breathe again. As myself and another fireman stayed and did patient care. More of my brothers came to extricate the little guy. The rigging system set up by Rick Loughman for the stokes was outstanding. Everyone went home safe, and another life saved. What a perfect execution and bang for the fourth of July! Thanks Kathy Torrence Boyle it was nice seeing you. Denise Moore you would have been proud
