Wholesale #energymarketreport from #bcconsultants today - Power: UK Base Current DA 42.38 November 2013 - 42.88. - Why? o Spot prices went higher yesterday mainly on the back of weaker wind power production in Germany day-on-day. Thermal availabilities continued to suffer: nuclear availability in France improved a little bit but is still at record-low levels for this period of the year. In addition, there were more than 2GW coal capacities offline yesterday in Germany. There are more than 3GW this morning! Wind power could rise again on Thursday and Friday (upward revision on the latter)...but it is expected to weaken again by the end of the weekend and next week. Therefore, spot prices are seen on the downside on Thursday and Friday. But week-ahead prices should not be particularly affected. On the far curve, a downward mood was mainly driven by a fall in emission prices yesterday. Firstly, discussions on the new German coalition are on-going. In addition, results of auctions yesterday were also rather bearish.
