Whoo, I just sat down to check my e-mails and realized I really am tired! We spent most of yesterday exploring Hamburg with our amazing new friends, Michael and Susann - they are the wonderful people who help Patty with her German - er, Zees German! We have talked frequently over e-mail but never had the pleasure of meeting them in person, and when we finally did, it was like hooking up with old friends! We had a blast and wandered all over, seeing the sights and sampling Hamburg cuisine - we discovered they really like potatoes and can do AMAZING things with the mighty tuber...and their beer is delicious! I sampled the local beer purely for the advancement of science and research, you realize. :D Today we had the pleasure of attending Lynettes (the wonderful university professor who arranged for us to come over here) class and chatting with her students. I am embarrassed to confess that when I was their age, I was not nearly that self possessed, and probably not as intelligent, either! :D The students were very energetic, articulate and charming, and we had such a fun time with them, ending with our judging their poster contest. It was a really, really hard choice - they had created really professional looking posters based on myth, legends and urban fantasy themes; I wish we could have given them all prizes! I am just loving it here; the sun has been shining, and everything is so GREEN! I only had time for one cup of coffee this morning so once again forgot my camera, but tomorrow I am determined to remember to bring it so I can post pictures! Meanwhile, Ill beg some copies from Mike and Lynette so I can at least post their awesome pictures and pretend I took them! :D Tomorrow night is Pattys open lecture at the university and she has been scribbling down notes to add to what is already a great talk! Now Im going to go put my feet up and rest for a while...its hard work having so much fun! :D --Ann
