Whos Shepherding The Flock That You Hang With? 1 Peter 5:1-4, Peter tells us, And now, a word to you who are elders in the church. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you: Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly - not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Dont lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example. And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor..... How many of us agree that we need more shepherds, or deacons, or pastors, who will care for their people like Peter speaks here? And Im not saying that I dont know any men whos lifestyles that dont fall under these characteristics, I do. I do know a lot of men who have given their lives for the people of the church, and in being the Church.... All Im trying to bring to the table, is the 80%, that through them lording themselves over the people, because they are now a deacon, or a pastor, is giving the shepherds a bad name in the eyes of the community... If we had elders who would care for their flock in such a way that when they got to heaven, if they make it, one might tap them on the shoulder and say, Thank you for helping me get here! ... And then, and only then, they will receive their crown of never-ending glory.... In our generation, we have too many elders, who think they have already received their crown, and our congregations are lost because it!.... Just like when someone, who wins 50 million in the lottery, takes their winnings all at one time; it wont be too long before they are bankrupt! And why? Because they thought to themselves, I dont have to work, I dont have to this anymore or that anymore. I can just enjoy life!... The same effect is the outcome of the multitudes of church-goers who think they already have received their crown of glory, and nobody can take it from them.. They think to themselves: Why do I have to talk to someone about Jesus Christ? Or, have to read my Bible anymore? Or, go to church every Sunday?... This is the reason that I profess loudly, that most of the church is really lost, without knowing their lost!.... Can I tell you the best, most rewarding way, to know if youre presently traveling down the narrow road that leads to forever in Gods Kingdom? Are you ready? Ask yourself, Is Jesus Christ Lord of my life?.. If you have to think about it, then Hes not! .. If you are one of the few who are allowing Jesus to be Lord of your lifestyle, then you know the results of this lifestyle: YOU WANT TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR LORD! YOU WANT TO STUDYING HIS WORD, THE BIBLE! YOU WANT TO GO AND WORSHIP HIM EVERY CHANCE YOU GET! AND, YOU WANT TO SERVE THE CHURCH, AS YOU ARE THE CHURCH!..... Lets go worship our Savior, and BE THE CHURCH! Whos with me?
