Whos ready to go below 0°? Thats a really possibility this week, as the seasons next significant dose of arctic air is delivered to Kansas and Missouri. Like the weather pattern that brought the cold in a big way back in mid November, this one promises to be even colder - though not as long lasting. Youll feel the brunt of the arctic air mass Tuesday and Wednesday with morning wind chill values pushing -15° to -20° near the Missouri-Iowa border, widespread single digit low temperatures and afternoon high temperatures struggling to make it to 20°. There doesnt look like there will be much moisture or mid-level lift for the cold front to work with, so any snowfall amounts should remain below 1. While not the coldest conditions weve ever experienced, it will be the coldest so far this winter season. Im also eyeing a storm system that could bring rain/ice/snow to our neck of the woods next weekend, January 2 & 3. Not locked in, but it has my attention. See you all tonight at 10 PM on KMBC 9 News Kansas City!
