Why I dont trust the Geek Squad at Bestbuy - my wifes niece brought her troublesome laptop to them in midtown manhattan. They diagnosed a virus, in spite of the fact that she has a good antivirus suite installed and it is updated regularly, and wanted to charge her $200 to remove it. I suggested she send it to me. Took the hard drive out for analysis and found that she did not have any virus or malware, but that in fact the hard drive was in the beginning stages of hardware failure with loss of all data, because as she sheepishly admitted, she does not back her stuff up. Silly chick. So I am attempting to extricate as much data as I can b4 the stupid thing dies and I think Ill get it all. Better to spend the $200 on a new lappy than give it to the miscreant geek who assured her it was a virus.
