Why I fundamentally disagree with the BEE policy: My business partners and I are not what you would call poor by any stretch of the imagination, one or two could well be called rich or from a rich background. We are about to benefit tremendously from the BEE policy, legally so. And the benefit will come from access to markets and information that is not easily attainable without access to these markets through connections or through the internet. With the data costs in South Africa this means an average black person cannot get access to utilize BEE. Now we worked god damn hard to get here, and blah blah, but this still means an increase in the class divide. Yes, there is always an element of what you are willing to do to get to here, but this policy only further seeks to frustrate the people suffering because BEE primarily works for middle income black people. EFFs intellectual rhetoric is primarily aimed at the conservation of white capital but its power is drawn from the frustrations of black people marginalized by the black elite. I see this in the daveyton uprising My thoughts
