Because: we strongly believe there are many Sierra Leoneans with very diverse skills, abilities and useful perspectives on policy issues who do not necessarily want to go into politics but would like to share their experiences in the interest of Sierra Leone. So SLPW strives to create a platform where such diverse views are frankly and freely discussed and analyzed to arrive at the best possible policy alternative that we may recommend to our government in the interest of our country. Also because we believe that, for public policies to work best they must be designed, implemented and monitored by local actors who understand their local realities, using locally generated data and analysis. Without such data and analysis, well intentioned policies and programs do not respond very well to the realities on the ground as we’ve experienced over the 53 years. Our main purpose therefore, is to support any government of Sierra Leone in its socio-economic development efforts by helping to analyze and recommend good alternative public policies devoid of any ethnic, regional and partisan biases. Remember that you do not have to be a subject-matter policy expert to be a member of SLPW. But to be a member you would be supporting the work of those who participate in our Subject-matter policy Advisory Committees. Furthermore, you would be subscribing to the ownership of the organization, be entitled to nominate and be nominated to the Board, serve on the Executive Committee or any of our Policy Advisory Committees.
