Why Kanchipuram ? Kanchipuram otherwise known as “Kanchi” is one of the seven holiest cities in India. Kanchipuram is located 70 Km South-west of Chennai city connecting through Chennai – Bangalore National Highway NH4 by road. In the 2014, Union budget the Central Government announced HRIDAY project (National Heritage City Development And Augmentation Yojana) to conserve and preserve the heritage character of Kanchipuram along with 5 other holy cities by allocating Rs.200 crores fund. Chennai city has three gateways on three directions, Chengalpattu in the South which is 60 Kms from Chennai, Kanchipuram in the West which is 70 Kms from Chennai and Gumudipoondi in North which is 60 Kms Chennai. In recent years the development in Chennai is fast expanding in all these three directions with lots of Industries, Educational Institutions, Housing projects, Infrastructure making these three gateways accessible easily. Coming to Kanchipuram, in late 70’s and early 80’s the gateway to Chennai used to be Porur which is 10 Kms from Chennai, in 80’s Poonamallee became the gateway which is 20 Kms from Chennai, in past decade Sriperumbudur became the gateway which is 40 Kms from Chennai on NH4 which has seen a rapid development, next will be Kanchipuram within 5 years. Kanchipuram as a city in itself is expanding rapidly over the period of time has lots of real-estate developers predicting kanchipuram to be the next prime focus locality.
