Why Lebrons Im going home letter was garbage - In case youve - TopicsExpress

Why Lebrons Im going home letter was garbage - In case youve been under a rock, Lebron James wrote a letter a few weeks back announcing that he was going home to Ohio to help his home town win a championship. Heres a link to the actual letter --- si/nba/2014/07/11/lebron-james-cleveland-cavaliers It was a feel good moment in sports in a time when there arent that many of them. But the more I think about it the more I realize that we got Hood Winked! We got Bamboozled! #1 - In the letter King James says that this move is ...not about the roster, meaning that he isnt going to Cleveland because he doesnt like his chances of winning in Miami. Come on KJ. Everyone that watched the 2014 season, and surely the finals, could plainly see that the Heat were now clearly a one man team. Even after letting DWade sit for all but 54 games so he could be fresh for the playoffs, he still looked like a shadow of his old self. And BTW, watching Wade sit out game after game while Lebron shouldered the teams scoring load couldnt have made the King too happy. Wasnt this why he went to Miami? So he wouldnt have to do all the heavy lifting? And the Spurs still crushed the Heat. All that rest Wade took didnt do anything but tire out Lebron. On the other hand the Cavs have a young super star in the making in Kyrie Irving and the last two #1 draft picks in Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins, and everybody in the league thinks perennial All Star Center Kevin Love will be heading to Cleveland as well. But wont the Cavs have to trade Wiggins and/or Bennett to get KLove? Good question. That brings me to reason #2 that the Lebron letter is bogus. #2 - Did you notice that in The Letter Lebron talked about all the guys he was looking forward to playing with on the Cavalier team? He even mentioned guys that Ive never heard of. Im pretty sure that the Cavaliers had no idea some of these guys were on the team. Heres the quote, I see myself as a mentor now and Im excited to lead some of these talented young guys. I think I can help Kyrie Irving become one of the best point guards in our league. I think I can help elevate Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters. And I can’t wait to reunite with Anderson Varejao, one of my favorite teammates. Sounds nice right? Lebron just likes mentoring young guys. So why didnt he mention the two youngest #1 picks on the team? Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins? Lebron has since says that he just forgot to mention those two guys. He forgot? He sat at home with his agent and they just forgot to mention the two #1 draft picks? He remembered to drop an Anderson Varejao mention but couldnt remember those two guys? Verejao plus a tomato can and you got tomato soup! Garbage. Lebron and his agent had already probably been in talks with the Timberwolves who own the rights to Kevin Love, and the TWolves let them know they would be wanting Wiggins and Bennett in return. Thats why Lebron left them out of the note. He knew they probably werent going to be there anyway. He knew the roster would probably end up with him and KLove and Kyrie ... a much better roster than the one that just got curb stomped in Miami by the Spurs. And much younger. Kyrie wont be asking to take games off anytime soon and Love is just now entering his athletic prime. The KLove deal was brokered before the ink even dried on Lebrons letter. #3 - Lebron closed his letter by suggesting that his presence in Ohio can be some sort of economic boon in the years to come. I want kids in Northeast Ohio, like the hundreds of Akron third-graders I sponsor through my foundation, to realize that there’s no better place to grow up. Maybe some of them will come home after college and start a family or open a business. ... Or burn your jersey. You know. What ever. I love it when people make sure to point out their charity. Im glad King James went home, but how is this different than when he left? He dumped Cleveland and went to Miami and got killed for it. People dumped the toxic lake water from Cleveland on his jersey and set it ablaze they were so outraged. So, now hes dumping Miami and going to Cleveland, but everybody is praising him. He just dumped another city. Does doing it to go back home really make it praise worthy? If so, then basically what we are saying is that the problem the first time was that he was moving to a new, more economically viable city to better his chances at succeeding in his chosen field. Something all of us will consider doing at some time in our life. Cue the Demi Lovato music - Coming Home. Coming Home. Tell the world im coming home Yes, yes. The King is coming home. Long live the King.
