Why am I not surprised? Soludo has used bogus English to stir the sentiments of the ignorant supporters of APC. This entire article of his is nothing but a self seeking attempt to glorify his stint as CBN governor and OBJs hardly impressive tenure as President. The dynamics of that era (economy and governance) and the present are quite different and for him to fail in stressing that in his article is quite self serving. Let us not forget that Obj ruled over a more unified and peaceful country than that which GEJ inherited. Do i begin by talking about the billions used to service our military in the war against terror for several years now or the fact that part of the country has been rendered economically redundant and unable to contribute profitably to the national economy? Do I touch on the fact that our railways remained moribund despite the fact that Obj claims to have infused billions of Naira into the sector or is it the roads that we should give him credit for? Really, I challenge Soludo to state clearly what meaningful achievements were recorded under Obj while he (Soludo) was CBN Gov. Soludo talks of proper management of the debt relief gains but I dare ask how many Nigerians are aware that the same debt relief gains are being channeled to worthy causes amongst which is the MDGs a globally applauded programme which has led to an unprecedented scope of development at the grassroots spanning various sectors. Nigerias efforts in this area is not only yielding positive results but has been described as the largest investment in grassroots development in the world. So he left billions of dollars behind as reserves but if I may yet again ask; what is the purpose of the reserves if we can not draw on it for our own use? Do we just remain economically stagnant while we stare the funds in the face? Furthermore, that oil prices are unstable is hardly any fault of Jonathans if u ask me. Thank God the Jonathan Administration is making headway in the area of agriculture. For the first time in decades somebody (GEJ) is exerting keen effort towards reducing our dependence on oil so all the talk about a sustained plunge in oil prices is nothing but a one sided analysis of our economic prospects as they stand today. Soludo has surprised me beyond comprehension. His article started off as an unbiased assessment and selfless contribution to the issues plaguing Nigeria but the further I read, the more I understood the essence of the piece...simply a quest for relevance which has exposed him as being partisan , contrary to his earlier stated position. He talks of the quality of GEJs team but I ask if he considers himself better than the likes of Aganga, Okonjo-iweala, Adewunmi or even the immediate past Governor of the Central Bank and now Emir of Kano, Mallam Sanusi Lamido? For all it is worth, I refuse to be swayed by his submission. I charge all Nigerians to verify facts coming out of the mouths of our so called intellectuals and especially politicians from the stables of the opposition before we hold them as true. Whichever way u vote this February please remember to Think Nigeria first and if you truly believe in change, vote Jonathan because change is already here!!!!
