Why are the Bombay Club and some of the powerful outgoing UPA - TopicsExpress

Why are the Bombay Club and some of the powerful outgoing UPA ministers are bringing heavy pressure on CBI to get its investigation against Bhave, former SEBI chief, a suspect in a multi-crore rupee corruption case, dropped? The apex investigative agency should be allowed to follow the standard drill before it cleares or catches Bhave. The rules for regulators and big business should not be any different from those for light-weight political executives and others. Few will disagree that stock and commodity exchanges, including forward delivery, in India have become hotbeds of corruption. Regulators are often hand in gloves with those whose actions they are supposed to monitor and control to grow the market for the benefit of consumers. Unfortunately, the reverse is the trend and the regulator-operator nexus is constantly squeezing consumers.
