Why are we so hard on ourselves sometimes? Why is it so easy to - TopicsExpress

Why are we so hard on ourselves sometimes? Why is it so easy to find and see the good in others, but so difficult to see the good in ourselves? We can be so critical, unforgiving and downright mean to ourselves, but so lenient and understanding of others. We almost pride ourselves on being our “own worst critics”, yet we don’t think about the damage we are doing to ourselves with negative and harsh self-talk. Think about it – if you had a friend that was as hard on you as you are on yourself; said the kind of things you say to yourself in your head; was as mean and critical of you as you are internally; would you want to stay friends with that person? No. So if you wouldn’t put up with it from anyone else, why do you take that from yourself – the one and only person on this earth that you have control over? There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be better and do better and achieve the absolute best for yourself, but be gentle in the process. Forgive yourself for not being perfect – nobody is. Cut yourself a little slack. Be realistic in your goals and ambitions. Congratulate yourself. And above all, love yourself unconditionally. #ChocolatGyrlUncensored
