Why better schools are the way to a better future for our area. When we produce better students, we become attractive to large businesses who are looking to locate in new areas. This translates to high paying jobs that arent dependent on a limited resource. It doesnt matter if you have a child in school or not. The quality of the schools has an effect on everyone in the community. We have accepted things as they have always been for far too long. We can embrace our heritage while moving forward. I listened to many at the recent rally talk about the sewage problem having been a problem for years. Everyone there knew this, yet how many showed up at previous board meetings and complained? When we see things in our schools that are not right, or should be fixed, instead of accepting it as it is, make a big stink about it. Our kids have to go there, and use those buildings. Lets demand they be safe, and secure for them. Lets demand they be well maintained. For too long we have had the attitude of building it, and using it until it falls down, then build a new one. We should have no problem having our schools last at least 100 years. If they dont then we have a major problem with the builders. I hope everyone decides it is time to better educate our students and give them the best tools to prepare them for the future.
