Why cant foreign journalists visit Chinese activist Hu Jia in his home in Beijing? Its because foreign dignitaries are in town for a big meeting called APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Coorporation). U.S. President Obama is meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping and they dont want Chinese activists or petitioners to embarrass them. Its a summit about money, isnt it? Obama must have forgotten hes a Nobel Peace laureate, and his fellow laureate Liu Xiaobo is jailed somewhere in northeastern China. And in Beijing where Obama is wining and dining, Lius wife Liu Xia is under house arrest in her apartment. There he was, Hu was waving at the camera a yellow umbrella and a little yellow ribbon, symbol of Hong Kongs #UmbrellaRevolution. The words written on the ribbon are of a slogan from HK: I want genuine elections.
