Why cant the succeeding administration honour or enforce the - TopicsExpress

Why cant the succeeding administration honour or enforce the contractual agreements entered into by its predecessors in office? Government all over the world is perpetual. Why is government viewed differently in Nigeria? A government in Nigeria be it local, state or federal is seen as an administration that is not going to subsist the oga in charge. Added to this is the general apathy towards the administration of justice. The citizens see a very thin line between the government and the courts. It is a general belief that its difficult if not impossible to obtain justice against the government; and even if one is lucky and succeeds, how do you enforce the judgement? The corrupt ruling class has exploited this to get away with their various crimes in the polity. That is why corruption is thriving, and non-existing plus abandoned projects are all over the country. The separation of powers between the three arms have been asserted by the recent landmark court ruling which barred the executive from being an intermediary to the direct funding of the judiciary from the federation account. Like the legislative arm, that ruling guarantees the independence of the judiciary, which will no longer have any reason to blame the executive for lack of or delay in performance in the administration of justice. The solution to the general apathy towards justice is for the Nigerian Bar Association and the Human Rights Organisations to sensitise the populace on their rights. The government should be seen as an ongoing and a legal entity, which can sue or can be sued.
