Why did God afflict Job? What had Job done? Though The Bible does say he was righteous, that does not mean he did not sin, it meant he pursued God, with his life, his wife, his kids, his finances as far as what he owned, and his heart... Job was afflicted for no reason, than for God to get glory, and for Jobs character to grow... I say this because of the amount of people who are told that the problems they have had in their life is because of hidden sin... The nation of Israel viewed affliction as a part of life, even referring to The Book Of Job as one of their books of Wisdom... Job 2:3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.” WITHOUT ANY REASON! Annanias and Sapphira did reap what they sowed, as did King David, for a season, but what did Joseph do? What did Stephen do? Its ok to go to God as we lament, and question why, in fact we should do that. Job didnt know God allowed satan to afflicting him, but today we know it is so, as Jesus told Peter that satan has ASKED to sift you as wheat - but I have prayed for you... ; )
