Why did Jesus refer to Gentiles as dogs? Matthew 15:21-28 The passage below raises two questions in my mind but I suspect they both have the same answer. My questions are: Why did Jesus at first refuse to speak to the Canaanite woman? We know He had no problem crossing gender and racial barriers, as seen e.g. in The Woman at the Well (John 4:1-42). Salvation was of the Jews first and later to the Gentiles. Yahuweh Elohims desire was for the Jews to receive the Good News of salvation first and later to spread it to the Gentiles. The Jews failed to live up to the expectations of Yahuweh Elohim. They imposed many man made laws and put extra burdens on the people. As a result the general people were not able to enter the kingdom of GOD. When they rejected Yahushua the Messiah, the Good News on salvation was offered to the Gentiles. In the Jewish culture of Yahshuas time, the Gentiles were called dogs by the Jews because they were not under the law, were unclean, uncircumcised, pork eaters and worship other abominable Gods. ____________________________________ Matthew 15:26 RNKJV But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the childrens bread, and to cast it to dogs. Probably, she could have heard stories about Yahushua healing and casting out demons from her friends. That is the power of a mothers love for her children, willingly to offer the highest sacrifice for the betterment of her children. If the Father in Heaven had not allowed that woman to approach Yahushua, her daughter would not be cured. Thank you. May Yahuweh Elohim Bless you and give you peace.
