Why did Sean Lee travel to Washington? ‘I’m getting on this bandwagon and running with it’ Sean Lee made his first road trip of the season on Sunday. The Cowboys middle linebacker had season-ending surgery in July to repair a torn ACL in his left knee. He’s been a regular around Valley Ranch, working with trainers and helping in meetings. So why did he travel with the team for Sunday’s game in Washington? “Trying not to miss out on any of this, going to the playoffs,” Lee said during the Cowboys pregame show on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “This is a situation you dream about being in. And I’m getting on this bandwagon and running with it. I’m so excited to be a small part of a team like this. This is something we’ve all dreamed of and hopefully we continue to win and make a run.” Lee said his rehab work has gone well and he expects to be “perfectly healthy” for the start of next season. Until then, he’ll settle for being another member of the defensive coaching staff. “Starting after last year, this defense was extremely motivated,” Lee said. “We didn’t feel that we played the way we wanted to, and it was obvious we didn’t. And it started in the off-season with the type of work we put in, with the ways we were getting better and working on the mistakes we made last year. “I knew that this season that we would find a way to be better, better in the system. What I’ve been proud of is all the guys that have stepped up: the guys in the linebacker room, the guys in the secondary, the defensive line. Everyone has found a way to play at a higher level, and that’s why we’re in the position we’re in.”
