Why do people feel like being an artist is a 5 step process??! I see a ton of people who say they will go above and beyond to make music or become the next big thing but they wont even attempt at developing themselves. Whether it be financially to increase your quality, or practice to increase your craft, there has to be SOME development at all times. There has to be SOME drive. the word stagnation has no place in artistry. No matter how many people tell you you arent good enough or you wont make it. You need to be hearing I can get better and Ill make it one day. This is not something someone does for the moment. This is a (and good God I am not referencing the song) lifestyle. You wake up with this goal and you go to sleep tired because youve been striving for it all day. People will always look at you and not believe you. But do this. Tell them you found a new artist and play it for them. and when they ask who it is (because they enjoy it) relish in the moment of true honesty youve recieved because youve surpassed what people thought you couldnt do. Its happened to me so many times. The phrase THIS IS YOU?!?! Is now an expectation for me. Its up to you to take that leap and try to go somewhere.
