Why do we as a global community, buy more newspapers when a huge drama is the headline. . News channels ratings skyrocket when there is a disaster. They give us more bad news vs good news because as a society thats what were saying we want. For as long as I can remember, Ive refused to watch the news or to read the paper because when I did..I would get that sick feeling in the pitt of my stomach. Natural disasters are inevitable, but that doesnt mean I want to hear about anyone losing their life, their home, or family members. I would much rather hear about the lady who donated enough to help that family rebuild their home, or maybe about the man who paid for a strangers funeral costs. You need to watch the news. Who knows what somebody will bring up at a meeting, or in the line at the store. -- Im smart enough to politely change the subject without much notice, and if not.. I am more than comfortable letting somebody know that Im uncomfortable discussing that subject. More often than not they will not ask you why you feel that way, but if they did Id be happy because Id be having this exact conversation. You feel me?
