Why do we love? and why do we hate? ---------- When you love or hate, you are molding your emotions But the question is why do we love and why do we hate? Perhaps we love and hate influenced by the environment we live in If we reflect upon it, we will find out that we do not choose whom to love and whom to hate We love a certain person because our father or mother love him, and we hate another because they hate him So the answer to the main question is that we love someone because our parents or friends love [him] and we hate someone because our parents or friends hate [him] The reason might be that the instructions by a party or group we belong to say that we should love this person and hate the other, without knowing the actual reason Actually, one should keep in mind that his love will be reflected on him negatively or positively, and his hatred will be reflected on him negatively or positively Those who impose on you to love and hate do not shoulder the responsibility of this action in terms of the negative or positive results, or those who give instructions to love and hate will not be affected by your feelings Imam Ali (a.s.) used to say to the people who might be allured when someone commends them: Do not be deceived by the number of people praising you, for it is you who will be hurt and not them One might tell you something, give you the instructions and leave, leaving you to face the results of your feelings - Grand Ayatullah Al Imam A-Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra)
