Why has California made it illegal to select the independent who - TopicsExpress

Why has California made it illegal to select the independent who ran for Congress in the 26th District? The Democrat was either too disinterested or too frightened to debate the Ambassador. The Republican has been drawing upon well-heeled and connected friends to drown the District with signs that say nothing but his last name; and on this score he seems perfect for a do nothing Congress. Ambassador Kmiec refused to waste money and trees sending out negative attacks on the personalities of his opponents; instead gave close to $3000 of the modest sum he raised to the Ventura social justice forum, working for the needs of all families, but especially our Hispanic friends who labor under unfair and sometimes dangerous conditions. Amb. Kmiec raised $20,000 as an. Independent for Congress, CA26. His opponents both raised over a million dollars, much of it from corporate sources well outside California. The Ambassador participated in every debate; met with citizens at libraries, in farm fields, on street corners, at homes, and in schools and colleges. The Ambassador promoted family wages, family friendly immigration reform, a return to progressive income taxes, the irresponsibility of drone attacks, the failure to think through our foreign policy objectives, and strongly supports the prospective presidential run of Hillary clinton. Prof/ Amb. Kmiec received close to several thousand votes, not enough however to overcome the gerrymandered stranglehold of the two major parties who counted upon a citizenry discouraged by the do nothing nature of the 113th congress to mostly not vote. Only some 26% voted. The ambassadors Democratic opponent, Incumbent Julia Brownly did not even bother to debate -- viewing nothing in it **for her** -- failing to perceive any obligation to explain the breakdown of the federal Congress. The Ambassadors Republican opponent did not support equal pay for women at the debate, had little insight into the vast income disparities in the nation choosing instead to serve a warmed over version of trickle down, and while ably defending the local military base, lacked the experience or perspective of the Ambassador. Ambassador Kmiec requested that his name be kept in the process as a Write-in, but was informed that even if he got every citizens write-in vote in the 26th district, he would be excluded from taking office since those in power have made write-in ballots in the general election -- in California but not other states -- illegal.
