Why is hydrofluoric acid toxic? It is neutral lipid soluble, - TopicsExpress

Why is hydrofluoric acid toxic? It is neutral lipid soluble, making it penetrate tissues easier. It also interacts with calcium and magnesium ions indiscriminantly, stealing these minerals from serum, muscle, bones, anything that contains them. They then form insoluble salts that cause serious pain. This acid penetrates deeply due to the nature of its solubility, and as such cannot merely be rinsed off. Ive worked with it before and it is much more dangerous than most other acids.
