Why is it in many discussions about australias past treatment and - TopicsExpress

Why is it in many discussions about australias past treatment and genocide of Aboriginal people, a white person always jumps in and tells us to "get over it" "it happened in the past" etc etc.. Why is it such a concern to them?? Are we forbidden to discuss the past?? Should we just get over it?? .... I discuss these topics to instill a sense of pride .... I discuss the massacres, rapes, poisonings, stolen generation, as obstacles we as aboriginal people have surpassed, that we are still here, strong, proud... Thats all.... And to have people who have absolutly no idea about aboriginal people or culture pass judgement on us, based on stereotypical views, jusr angers me... I dont go to ANZAC pages and tell them to get over it, that it happened in the past.... Dont ever let anyone, non indigenous (and in some sad cases indigenous) especially, tell you to get over it!!! It makes me proud seeing many of our people on fb having intelligent discussions about our past and present, our culture, our succeses, our people... So keep on learning and empowering each other.... #will
