Why is reclaimed water bad? The EPA does not require water - TopicsExpress

Why is reclaimed water bad? The EPA does not require water treatment plants to rid the recycled water of every single harmful germ so tons of fecal bacteria floats inside it. Children tend to eat the snow for fun and people may accidentally fall into the snow when skiing, making it so they digest the snow and it is a health hazard for all. These bacteria, along with parasites like amebas and giardia, can cause severe diarrhea, abdominal pain and cramping, bloody stools, fever, nausea and vomiting. The viruses Hepatitis A and E may also be transmitted through contact with fecal matter. This is the water that will be used to create fake snow for the Arizona Snowbowl! These peaks are sacred to many Native American tribes. By using the reclaimed water on the peaks, we are essentially disrespecting the religious beliefs of the Native Americans. Join us to protest against the City of Flagstaff for using reclaimed water on the Sacred Peaks of Snowbowl! December 6th at 9am at the Arizona Snowbowl! -Monique
