Why keep Gods law? Do we really need it? Didnt Christ come to set us free? Lets allow Jesus to answer this question in no uncertain terms; Mat 5:17-19 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” It is written, Deut 6:3 “Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.” “And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.” Deut 6:24 When I choose not to covet, I do it because I know that God understands me. He not only created me from nothing, but also designed me with a purpose. This dream that God has for me is much more than earthly riches, fame or prosperity. He is trying to protect me, uplift me and draw me closer to His side. In fact, you and I are His life. We were designed to find in Him, our lives, our dreams and inspiration. We live in the twenty first century, where the culmination of accumulative knowledge is at the tips of our fingers. Every day, several thousand people go to work with one goal in mind. It is their jobs to make you feel second best. Unless they can design a car, watch, cell phone or jewels that make you covet; the world economy would slow down. Yes friends, our world is based on a system that makes you feel second best. We are degraded to the point where we are defined by what we do not have. The message that modern economics is sending is simple, you are not good enough! You can never be good enough, because the best is still being designed. We have become slaves of our emotion. There is so much more to life than getting, but we have become gatherers, trying to collect as much as we can—while that which we have has slowly lost its value. But come see for yourself… Take a look at the phone you just had to have 7 years ago. Do you still want it? How much did it cost? We are wasting our lives on things that we no longer want. Our lives are being degraded, day by day until we reach the point where we truly are naked, incomplete, poor, miserable and retched. There is hope friends. His name is Jesus. He designed the world we live in. If we seek His wisdom and care within His principles, they will become the steps that lead us to a fuller and more meaningful life. He can make every moment of your day more special. When we start to value things and people for the effort that He puts into it, we will begin to understand how truly blessed we are. Heaven will show us how much we mean to God and He will fill our hearts with peace.
