Hotpoint Hi Bruce, Thanks for getting in touch with us. We work closely with a number of third party companies; Domestic & General in particular. It would seem as though you have been contacted regarding this as we feel it is important for customers to be made aware of any extra services that are available to them. We receive very few complaints regarding this also. Furthermore, whilst we would hope that you would never experience a problem with your appliance, this can happen at any stage which is why we voluntarily provide a 12 month manufacturers guarantee. If in that time, an appliance has a problem we will cover the cost of any parts and labour; however after that time, any repair service may be chargeable. The Sale of Goods Act does not require that goods should remain fault free for any specific period of time, 5 years or otherwise, or hold the seller & manufacturer responsible if goods develop faults that were not present at the time of purchase. With goods being able to break down through normal use, a component failure does not mean that the product is not fit for purpose or not durable. There needs to be a fault that was present on the day of sale, even if it only becomes apparent later. We hope this provides some insight on to the matter and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Kind regards, Hotpoint 4 minutes ago · Like.. Bruce Cooper Cobblers! Just another cop out!
