Why the pulpit theatrics and dramatics? According to the theory of education, the average person needs to hear a thing 200 times to get it got it.The mind can grasp it intellectually immediately, but the heart/subconscious takes ownership of it through repetition.Any parent already knows this. The genius only needs to hear a thing 120 times to get it got it.Who is going to listen to you preach the same thing 120 or 200 times until they get it?Folk just dont have that kind of attention span ,plus its boring. What are we to do?Our words must pierce the heart the first time.We must hit the mainframe. When the apostle Peter preached at Pentecost ,the bible says that their hearts were pricked.Peter didnt have to repeat himself 200 times. They got it.Heres the catch. You can only cut with the Word to the extent youve allowed the Word to cut into your own heart. Its pressure to force through the emotions what has not been cut into ones own being. When the heart of a preacher passion is filled with passion, but lacks inward reality, he attempts to serve Gods people through his emotions bringing them into a frenzy of emotional energy called charisma. But this is sensual(according to the senses),but not of the Spirit. All of that hollering and dancing around is indicative of an undealt heart, that has experienced God no deeper than his feelings.
