Why would you make how-to nail tutorials when there are already so - TopicsExpress

Why would you make how-to nail tutorials when there are already so many? Because of people like this girl. Everything about this video is awful. First of all, the video editing is so poorly done and for someone with almost a million subscribers, I find that kind of shameful. So she starts off by saying shes a professional because she has a cosmetology license. Thirty seconds later, she recommends a brand of polish for base and top coat... only to say immediately afterwards that she never uses a base coat. A professional would know to ALWAYS use a base coat to prevent staining and peeling, not to mention it helps even the base of the nail (many fingernails have ridges which can ruin a design). She says she doesnt use one just because, which to me implies laziness. Base coats dry in about thirty seconds, so were not talking about a massive time crunch by leaving it out. Off to a sloppy start. She continues to use the word perfect, a word I would avoid using in beginner videos. Clean would have been a better word to use. She also says exactly this: ...a lot of people struggle with painting their nails, and Ive actually seen even girls who do just nail videos here on YouTube and they get the nail polish all over their cuticles and skin and I dont understand that. In the video, she gets polish on her cuticles and skin a number of times. The fourth time, she even says, Ill clean that up later. So youre saying youre NOT the perfect professional you claimed to be? Interesting. She also gets polish on her skin in her other tutorials, from what Ive noticed. The ONLY good advice she gives is doing small strokes and keeping both hands rested on a flat surface for better control, otherwise she doesnt explain anything that shes doing as she does it. She fills in all the silence with pointless comments like, My hands are shaky because I had Starbucks earlier or You want to do it this way so it looks perfect or Just paint along your nail so that it doesnt touch your skin. Her nail designs are very simple and pretty neat, which is why I can understand why people would want to watch her videos, but overall Id give her a 4/10 as a how-to YouTuber.
