Wife Kills Hubby With An Axe Then Commits Suicide A 41-year-old Chinamhora woman allegedly struck her husband to death with an axe before taking her own life following a domestic altercation on Saturday morning. Mashonaland East acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident. He said the deceased couple had a long history of violence and that the situation got worse when Daniel Murira (46) came home drunk and verbally abused his wife Jesmine Nyakudya (41). “I can confirm that Jesmine Nyakudya of Chinamhora village in Domboshava took her life after she struck her husband to death with an axe,” said Asst Insp Mwanza. “It was reported that on Friday night Daniel Murira came home drunk and verbally abused his wife, who retaliated by attacking him with an axe. We understand that Jesmine then called Murira’s brother and told him that she was being assaulted by Murira and that she was taking matters into her own hands,” said Asst Insp Mwanza. He said Nyakudya then called Murira’s brother on Saturday morning informing him that she had murdered his brother and that she was taking her life as well. “Murira was later discovered in a pool of blood with deep cuts on the head,” said Asst Insp Murira. “Police called to the scene discovered an axe with blood stains, but Jesmine had fled to her cousin’s home where she took poison and later died at Makumbe Hospital.”
