Wikipedia lists 208 social networking sites (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) And, this list is not exhaustive. Its limited to just the notable, well-known sites. With WIRW, weve been asking ourselves how much social media we need to really be connected and competitive to attract new sailboat racers and to attract event sponsorship dollars. We have Facebook and our website. Period. But this video (totally worth the watch) reminded us that there is such a thing as media over stimulation. As a winning crew, would we all rather spend time high-fiving each other, talking about the win, and popping something bubbly (of course), or be the crew that grabs our phones to check to see if our names have popped up in the winners circle on Twitter? What memory of that winning moment would you all prefer to have? At WIRW, when it comes to good connections, would you prefer to have them in person or via the World Wide Web? (I should note that with a competent scorekeeper and a good internet connection, our results get posted pretty fast via Yacht Scoring!) But, do you think we need to be on Twitter? Any other social networking site? In this day in age, is a WIRW Facebook page and a website be enough? As loyal WIRW fans, what do you think?
