***Wildlife Report***The SPCA Wildlife Department released a beautiful Red-tailed Hawk this morning at Buckhorn Island State Park on Grand Island. The hawk was originally rescued by Grand Island weekend DCO, John Mondoux on December 27th. Mr. Mondoux spotted the Red-tailed Hawk standing by the side of the road and could tell the bird needed medical attention. Upon examination, the hawk had a partially detached retina but was able to see. She also was regurgitating her food. After just over a week of rehabilitation, the Red-tailed Hawk was eating on her own and flew well on a creance line. An excited group of rehabilitators, volunteers and the officer who rescued her were on hand to witness her release. Tune in to Timeless WECK radio (FM 102.9 and AM 1230), tomorrow morning at 8:20 for more on the Red-tailed Hawk’s story!
