Will Never Receive The Transformation Required For Heaven Until We Stop Blaming Others And Take Responsibility For Our Actions Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 51:10) Holiness - https://youtube/watch?v=8vNPcmLzlvI Have you ever wondered why it is so easy for us to blame others for our actions? We say, “he or she made me do this.” We are constantly finding an excuse to shift the responsibility for our actions to someone else. I am not sure if we really understand that this attitude of blaming others is something that we inherited from our fore parents Adam and Eve. This issue of blaming has nothing to do with personality. Although psychologies have tried to explain the reasons for this “blaming game”, the Bible provides the source of this attitude that exists in every single human being. No one on the planet earth can say that they don’t have this problem of shifting responsibility to someone else instead of being accountable for our actions no matter the stimulus. Let us examine for a moment where this blaming really started. In Gen. 3 we see Eve and the Serpent in a conversation about the forbidden fruit. After convincing herself that eating the fruit would increase her knowledge she took a bite and committed transgression of God’s law. Immediately she became an agent of the Devil. Straightway she went to her husband Adam and gave him the fruit. The Bible doesn’t record any conversation between the two. There is no discussion similar to the one between Satan and Eve… But Adam ate the fruit the moment it was given to him by Eve. Now the both had additional knowledge. They now had some knowledge about evil and was experiencing its effect. Notice carefully what happened when Jesus confronted the pair. In Gen, 3:12, 13 the word of the Lord said, “And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” Notice carefully that Adam did not take responsibility for his actions, he blamed Eve. Likewise, Eve did not take responsibility for her actions, she blamed the Serpent. But who was the Serpent going to blame? Based on the scripture it implies that Satan took responsibility for controlling Eve and influencing her to disobey the commands of God. Notice also that Eve took responsibility for misguiding Adam even though she would not admit that she allowed herself to listen to the voice of the deceiver. My friend, the Bible is very clear that this issue of blaming others for our actions is at the core of our carnal nature. It is at the core of the sin problem. This is why God has brought this to our attention again. When we blame others for our actions, we are giving them control over us. The only person who should have this kind of control is God. And He doesn’t even impose this control over us. We have to give Him permission to take control or He will not. I pray that we will ask the Lord to help us to get rid of the blaming of others when we do something that is wrong. Let us pray and ask God to help us to be accountable and take responsibilities for our actions. No one can make us do anything we don’t what to do unless they had a gun to our head or we surrender ourselves to their control. Let us continue to allow the Holy Spirit to take control as He continues His work of transformation in our heart. We are not our own, to act as we choose. We are called to be representatives of Christ. We are bought with a price. As the chosen sons and daughters of God, we should be obedient children, acting in accordance with the principles of His character as revealed through His Son. Jesus has said, Do good to them that hate you. How much we can accomplish by following this instruction we can never estimate. Pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Are not the principles here brought to view often overlooked? The amount of evil that might be avoided by following them is by no means small: for sometimes the hearts of persecutors are susceptible of divine impressions, as was the heart of the apostle Paul before his conversion. It is always best to endeavor to carry out the whole will of God as He has specified. He will take care of the results.--MS. 148, 1902. (Medical Ministry, pg. 256 – Ellen G. White) And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth. (Deuteronomy 8:17, 18) Those who love God supremely will realize that they are rich beyond computation in the wealth that God gives them.... Man possesses nothing to which he has an exclusive right. He does not even own himself; for he has been bought with a price, even the blood of the Son of God. Christ has a claim on all the property in our world. He can set in operation a train of circumstances which will sweep away the accumulated gain of years. He can also call in needed help for His children. . . . It is God who gives man the breath of life. We cannot originate; we can only collect that which God has originated. He is our guardian, our counsellor; and more than this, from His liberal supply we derive all the skill, tact, and ability that we possess. . . . All you possess is His gift, for you had nothing with which to create or purchase it. It is given you, not to become a wedge to separate you from Him, but to help you in doing His service. The moment a man loses sight of the fact that his capabilities and possessions are the Lords, that moment he is embezzling his Lords goods. He is acting the part of an unjust steward, provoking the Lord to transfer His goods to more faithful hands. God calls upon those to whom He has entrusted His goods to handle them faithfully, to show to the world that they are laboring for the salvation of sinners. He calls upon those who profess to be under His supervision not to misrepresent Him in character. . . . He daily loadeth us with benefits. . . . Let us glorify Him by imparting to others the abundance He has bestowed upon us. (In Heavenly Places, pg. 302 – Ellen G. White)
