Will begins this column by criticizing Obama for using juvenile - TopicsExpress

Will begins this column by criticizing Obama for using juvenile insults -- and actually asks us (rhetorically) to imagine Reagan, that iconic, legendary man, using casual humor (!). Now, I know the mythologizing of Reagan is still in full-force on the right, but this is a flabbergasting argument -- Will is actually evoking Reagan as a man who never deviated from some serious, stoic, manly presidential image? Give me a break! Then Will, one of Washingtons longest-running commentators, actually dares to feign shock and outrage that a politician, of all creatures, would ever make use of a straw man, or claim that his opponents arguments have been debunked. Is he kidding? And to top it all off, the tabloid-trashy adolescent theme is only there to corral all of these non-arguments together under a big, provocative headline. Ugh.
