Will truck mechanics need to become computer network technicians? According to machinedesign, the increased amount and sophistication of onboard automation and data capture means that control systems on construction, mining, and agricultural machines require greater bandwidth, determinism, and data-handling sophistication. Designers and manufacturers are turning to Ethernet technologies to overcome these issues. More commonly used by IT departments, does this mean that our truck mechanics will soon need similar technical skills to those of our IT technicians?
