William Ruto to Face Accusers Today at Hague William Ruto to Face Accusers Today Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto is today-Tuesday facing his accusers as his trial resumes at the International Criminal Court ( ICC). The first prosecution witness to take the stand is expected to be a woman who survived the attack at Kiambaa where 30 women and children were burnt to death inside a church on January 1, 2008,Standard Digital News Kenya reports The 37-year-old woman is expected to testify about planning meetings allegedly attended by Ruto at a prominent politician’s home in the Rift Valley where she worked as a cook. After her testimony, she will be cross-examined by the prosecution, led by Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, the legal representative of victims and then by Ruto’s defence team. The second witness, Herve Maupeu, who is an expert witness, is however likely to testify in public as she gives a detailed account of the history of the violence that rocked the country after the disputed 2007 presidential poll. A third witness who is already at The Hague is said to be a security officer who worked for one of the rival political parties in the 2007 General Election. The trial was adjourned abruptly last Wednesday after the prosecution said the witness had not arrived at The Hague.
