William Scott Conway 10 hrs · Do you see the difference between a Christian submitting to authorities, and a Christians embracing Statism? Because if I read the New Testament correctly, the political authorities often beat and mistreated the apostles, and commanded them to never speak of Jesus. And they continued to preach the Gospel, essentially a revolutionary act that landed many of prison, and got most of them killed or exiled by State officials. They broke the law. They neither submitted or subordinated. They broke the law and took the consequences. It is interesting really. Our society actually has more pressure and weight on the Church to do what is socially acceptable, than a society of raw authoritative force, like the apostles faced. And while that is changing, our churches still have the liberty to preach sound theology. But they must bear the weight of it becoming less and less socially acceptable to do so. As the noose tightens, I admit, watching the church do the pee-pee dance around the real Gospel (like Paul Washer preaches), and the socially acceptable Gospel (like Joel Osteen and Rick Warren preaches), is both fascinating and entertaining.
