William Shatner (the real Captain Kirk) asks ISS commander Chris Hatfield some questions. I hope they hurry up with the new civilian shuttles. (the space-glider looking things).. Yous not getting me to sit in a shuttle strapped to a giant booster rig. No effing way dude lol, ill take the plane up there. I dont think id ever get a chance to dock and board the ISS, but it would be great just to see it in person from inside a shuttle. Although, its hard to visualize those distances in your head... a civilian shuttle may not be able to get out far enough to see more than a little blip in the black sky. The ISS is about 268 miles out, in orbit. The Russian progress vehicles they mention in the beginning are used to push it back up and out to orbit, Over time, space debris and other factors can cause its orbit to deteriorate, and it will get closer to earth. Progress vehicles are like space tug boats. Without them, they risk orbital decay and re-entry... Space stations dont like friction, extreme heat, or wind resistance lol....
