Williamson County CASAs former president Alex Marks passed the torch this month, but we wanted to say thank you for all hes done! During Alex’s time as board president, the organization made great strides because of the dedication of staff members, board members and volunteers—boosting engagement both internally and externally; raising more money from fundraisers than ever before; serving the most children in the organization’s history; and more! Following are some notable accomplishments within the non-profit, from 2012 to early 2014 (during Alexs term): • In 2012, the first “Voices for Children” fundraiser was held with Wynonna Judd. Since then, the benefit has grown tremendously: in 2014, “Voices” brought in more than $100,000 for the organization—a 40 percent increase from 2013. • In 2012, board subcommittees were implemented to better serve the advocates, and spread awareness of the organization, and members participated in extending training sessions to better understand how CASA directly impacts the community, and the obstacles its volunteers face. • By 2013, membership on the board of directors had grown significantly. The board established an associate board to help engage a younger set of community members within WCCASA, and to spread its mission. • In 2012, the juvenile court accepted the advocate recommendations 100 percent of the time. • In 2013, the first-ever Williamson County CASA Playhouse was built and raffled off. The event raised more than $25,000 for the non-profit. The second Playhouse will be raffled off in Fall 2014. • In 2013, WCCASA restructured its organizational chart to implement an executive director (formerly, this was a shared, dual role within the organization). WCCASA brought on Marianne Schroer as the executive director. • In the 2012-2013 fiscal year, WCCASA advocated for more than 300 children—that’s a far larger number than any previous year—and had the capacity to serve each and every case presented to them, thanks to the 70-plus volunteer force. • Since 2009, WCCASA’s volunteer force has doubled. The number of volunteers has continued to grow rapidly, year over year. • In 2013, WCCASA celebrated 20 years of breaking cycles in the Williamson County community. Heres to two more decades in the community, under great leadership!
