Wimbledon at Westmeston for the Acorns Nursery School A very successful community event took place last week. Young budding Wimbledon champions of the future from The Acorns Nursery School were put through their paces by tennis coaches Chris and Freya at Plumpton Tennis Club, close to their Westmeston nursery school. Maria, the club Chair, kindly arranged and organised a tennis morning to celebrate the Wimbledon fortnight. It gave The Acorns children an opportunity to have fun on the court and allow parents and staff to see at first hand how to help and support the children with the development of their ball and racquet skills. “I would like to offer special thanks to Maria, the Chair of Plumpton Tennis Club for hosting such a wonderful event and making us so welcome,"said Janet Irwin, the owner of The Acorns. "We hope it will provide a spring board for Acorns children to adopt tennis as one of their key sports. My brother, who has been a tennis coach for many years and used to work for the LTA, is convinced that the skills learnt and developed on the tennis court, lead to significant improvement in core skills helping children to achieve both physically and mentally.” The Acorns hope that this successful event will be the start of a long-term partnership between The Acorns and Plumpton Tennis Club, who are offering free tennis coaching sessions to 14-25 year olds this summer and would love you to join in. plumptontennisclub.hitstennis.co.uk or email Tel: 07748 958971
