Winchester Heritage: A short walk from the River Itchen and the historic City Mill stands the attractive timber-framed Chesil Old Rectory. Built around 1425 by a wealthy merchant, later owned in turn by Henry VII and Queen Mary I, it is the oldest commercial building in Winchester. Queen Mary gave the building to Winchester after the cost of hosting her marriage to Philip of Spain in 1554 almost bankrupt the city.
