“Window On The Word”: Read I Corinthians 3:5-9. It is a tremendous privilege and blessing to live a life of service to the Lord Jesus. Many believers have let this joy escape them. For these individuals, service has degenerated to into duty, and fellowship with believers has become small clicks. Believers in Corinth had lost the joy of service and harmony of fellowship. Paul supplied them some pointed reminders. (1) Paul reminded believers of the servants role. The servant of the Lord is to be an avenue through whom others can come to faith [vs.5]. In the hands of the Lord, he, Apollos, and other Christians are instruments to be used to reach the lost, and those gone astray from obedience. Christian history is littered with people who attracted a following, and people became more devoted to them than to the Lord Himself. A servants role is to point people to Jesus, not take the place of Jesus. (2) Paul reminded believers of the servants approach. Servants are to do the Lords work with cooperation amid diversity [vs. 8]. He who plants, and he who waters are one...equal. One is no more important than another. Cooperation is the demonstration of singleness of purpose in advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Planters without waterers are useless, we need each other. No other approach will succeed. (3) Paul reminded believers of the servants reward. Each will receive his own reward according to his labor [vs.8]. While we work together, the Lord has His eye on the efforts and heart of each individual. God keeps the books and is the true paymaster. What an honor to hear, Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Master. Think about it. Have a Great Day, and spread the Word!
