Winkys status inspired me to write one about the same topic.. A lot of people have said Why are the characters in Harry Potter complaining about the homework they have to do at Hogwarts? Its magic, for crying out loud! I would much rather do Potions homework than muggle homework!. But heres the thing, wizards are complaining because theyve never gone to a muggle school. They dont really know what muggle schools are like, and they certainly dont know how much homework muggles have. Yes, there are muggle-borns but they didnt have much homework either before they turned 11 and got their invitation letter to Hogwarts. Wizards get a LOT of homework. Honestly, Id say they get more homework than normal muggles do, but it kind of depends on which school you go to and stuff like that. Anyway, the only reason we would prefer to do homework about magic is because we wish magic existed in real life. They know two worlds. The magical world, and the muggle world, and they dont ever think about how lucky they are compared to the muggles. Think about a poor country (Lets take Uganda as an example) and about a rich country. In the US, people all over the country are complaining because they have lots of homework they have to do every day, but they never realise that a child in Uganda really wants to do your homework for you. They want an education. They want a job, a good life and they want to support their family, but they wont be able to because they live in a poor country where none of those things are possible without a HIGH education. They cant go to a real Uni in Uganda. They cant just get clean tap water and a table full of food like we can. See what I mean? Its the exact same thing with wizards and witches. They dont realise how easy they have it, because they were born that way and they cant help it. People complain all the time, no matter how lucky they are. Muggle-borns understand that theyre lucky, but they had only lived 11 years in the muggle world before they got their invitation letter from Hogwarts so they dont really know EVERYTHING about the real world. Humans also forget almost all the things theyve experienced during the ages of 0-6, so they basically only have 5 years worth of experience. I hope you all get the point, because this is a long text and Id rather end it here than have to write 5 more pages (And honestly, no one would ever read that because Im not very interesting. XD). - Amicus
