Winners of the Great Prenzel Cook-off spectacular... As a top food critic, it was with great anticipation that I sat down at the head of the table, my head filled with the glorious smells of the teams efforts in the kitchen. The great Prenzel cook off was in full swing! With a clattering of pots and pans, and some beautiful dish placement, the first course was rolled out.... A choice of Potato and Leek Soup, or creamy Pumpkin Soup. Each was garnished with a swirl of cream and some delectable Pumpkin slices, crisped in a Prenzel Lemon Oil. On the side we had beautiful bread sticks drizzled with Cheese, and crunched to perfection. I choose the Leek and Potato soup, and I was not disappointed. The flavours were divine, and I felt a pang of sadness when my spoon scraped the very bottom of my bowl. Judging by the happy noises of the fellow patrons at the table, the Pumpkin soup was as equally delicious. Well done Team 1, Emma W, Linda C, Hayley M, Kirstie H and Cherie J, Our main course came out with all the smells of a heavenly meal. A Salami Pasta bake, seasoned with Prenzel Garlic Pepper was placed on the tables. It came with a side of sliced mushrooms, a fresh Salsa made with tomatoes, onion, corn and pepper, drizzled with a Prenzel Balsamic Vinegar, and some crunchy bread . The pasta was perfectly cooked and very tasty, with a stunning spicy flavour, and loads of homemade cheese sauce. The salsa was a fresh tang on the tongue, and suited the pasta well. The mushrooms were very well received, and had reduced to a rich creamy mouthful of heaven. Fantastic job Team 3, Sonya S, Chris N, June L, Adreena B and Phil. As we relaxed with our full bellies, our dessert made an appearance. Any thoughts of being unable to eat another mouthful quickly dissolved as we looked upon the creation before us. A homemade Passion fruit cheesecake with a layer of biscuit crumb base, topped with home preserved peaches, and a fluffy mousse like topping was placed down at our quivering hands. It was made using Prenzel Passion fruit Tipsy Topping, with a peach and passion fruit sauce drizzled over the top, each served with some Vanilla Bean ice-cream. The flavour was a delicate experience, the tart of the peach with the sweet of the Tipsy topping worked wonderfully together. It sliced beautifully, and held its shape as we devoured each morsel. Top efforts Team 2, Emma D, Rebecca C, Janet and Tony J, and Toni T The meal was a wonderful way to showcase not only the talents of our top chefs, but also the ways in which to use Prenzel in everyday cooking, and turn it into top quality feasting. The winning team is TEAM 1!!!! Emma W, Linda C, Hayley M, Kirstie H. Cherie J!!, You are our WINNERS! Congratulations also to Hayley Muller for getting her team into victory! As a token of our appreciation you will receive a small surprise in your mailboxes, teamed with the glory that comes with being the North Islands top Chef team in the great Prenzel Cook Off!
