Winsome Sinclair sparked a question that I wanted to repost. Where were you when you heard B.I.G. died? As the story goes, I was working with the legendary Winsome Sinclair on the Steven Spielberg film AMISTAD. We were in Newport, Rhode Island working 7 days weeks for 4 months on that film casting extras. Talk about no sleep til Brooklyn. My boy Kyhim Robinson called me like 7 something in the morning and he never called me that early. I knew something bad happened but wouldnt have thought what I was about to hear. Especially on a Sunday morning. Yo! They murked B.I.G.! he said. Whaaat?! was all I could say. I was quiet that entire day. Needless to say, Newport Rhode Island wasnt a place where news like this was traveling around. Nor was there news coverage that I could tune into. I told Winsome and our co-hort Cherise who was also out there working with us. I swear we were the only three in the state that was affected by the news. The week goes by. Erykah Badus BADUIZM came out around that time and that was probably the one thing that got me thru that entire experience while I was out there away from home. I was surprised and lucky enough to find The SOURCE mag with B.I.G. that came out that week at a local book store. I still own that mag to this day. It didnt hit me til the day of the funeral. I hurt to this day, no lie, that I wasnt out here in Brooklyn to be on St James and Fulton for the motorcade. Even though we were working with Steven Spielberg, which was a major accomplishment for us and Winsome Sinclair NAssoc, not being amongst the people of Brooklyn hurt to the core of my soul. It really did and still does to this day. Whats your story...
