Winter Gear: Been thinking about gearing up for the winter. Ive worked outside during the winters down to zero. This year for camping and my woodsy activities, Im going with a wicking base layer, sticking with my tried & true extremities protection of wool and Im going to try out a 100% wool coat instead of my usual Carhartt parkas with my fleece jacket and shirt jac. Footwear: Timberland PROs and Mucks Arctic Pros. Im a big fan of ECWCS gear and will be getting a pair of ECWCS Gore-Tex trousers for those especially wet winter days to compliment my ECWCS parka when Im not in a pair of Carhartt double knee loggers. My goal this year is to really cut out the bulk and get down to more durable traditional materials without forsaking the modern wonders of breathable synthetics. And sorry, but Im not giving up on cotton. If its good enough for actual woodsmen (loggers, foresters, etc...), its good enough for me. I just have to find my balance. I didnt know that cotton was killing me all those years [
