WisCons final decision on allowing Jim Frenkel to return to the con: Permanent Ban. The WisCon 37 and WisCon 38 concom members jointly reviewed the Frenkel subcommittees recommendation, and, after extensive discussion and consideration of additional evidence, voted whether to clarify or strengthen the existing ban, or to make the ban permanent. By an overwhelming majority, the decision is for a permanent ban. This decision cannot be appealed. Jim Frenkel will not be allowed to return to any future WisCon conventions. It took fourteen months from Elise Matthesens and Lauren Jankowskis initial reports for the con to do the right thing, but Im very glad they did, and I hope the con has learned enough to not repeat this mistake again. Because harassers exist and while they cant always be prevented, what we can do is always put victims first and have the right procedures in place for everyones protection.
