Wisdom Work for Women: To reframe a memory, you look at it from a new perspective. For instance, perhaps a memory tells you that you were a victim, but with current knowledge and perspective, you are able to see your part in a new way. Or perhaps you are able to see that you received benefit from an event, whereas originally, you saw only loss. The purpose of reframing is to build yourself a positive, solid foundation of memories to support you going forward in a positive way. Often there is no real story about what happened, only the story that each person involved made up for themselves. To be happier and more positive, make up a new, empowering story about events in your life. This is reframing your memories.
